Give us the background - when and why did you decide to open a record shop

I’ve been record collecting, this time round, since 2015 and know how intimidating it can be for a female or pop collector in record shops…when I knew I was being made redundant from my job I decided I wanted to open a specialist record shop for the pop people – one where its reversed and you have to hunt out the rock amongst all the pop giants.

Tell us about your store – what’s the vibe

Light and airy…all tastes welcome….no overreaching to get to the back of the bins….dogs very welcome.

Can You Remember The First Record You Sold In The Shop? And The Last?

First was Lady Gaga The Fame and Marina’s Electra Heart….last was some preloved 80s including Transvision Vamp and A-Ha.

What is your favourite record shop (apart from your own!) And why?

JM Records in Exeter as they are also big pop fans like me.

What’s your most memorable record store experience?

Being laughed at for buying Bananarama at a record fair…this is when I knew a popcentric record shop was needed.

What's the best gig you've ever been to?

Hard one but either Fleetwood Mac with the Rumours era 5 at IOW or Prince at Hop Farm Festival in Kent

What's your all-time favourite book?

Daisy Jones and The Six

What's your all-time favourite film?

I’d like to pretend its something cool but really its Grease (Grease 2 not far behind)

What would make up your desert island discs?

The Chain – Fleetwood Mac
Spinning Around – Kylie (Obviously)
All Too Well 10 Minute Version – Taylor Swift to get my monies worth.

Who would form your all-time festival line-up? (past & present)

Kylie, Taylor, Lana….basically all the pop ladies….but with the Rumours era Fleetwood Mac, early 70s Elton John and Madonna in the mid-1980s just to see them at their peak.
